Hifiman Ananda Stealth is a full size, over ear planar magnetic headphone, designed to provide outstanding clarity, a spacious soundstage and a deep, highly accurate bass. Ananda Stealth are an excellent example of planar magnetic technology done right - comfort is very good, the sound has excellent resolution, no harshness, is very open and the bass response goes DEEP but stays very tight.

The Ananda Stealth headband is all metal and feels extremely sturdy. The connectors have been bumped up to 3.5mm on each ear cup, so the cables from Meze and Focal headphones can be swapped.  Ananda Stealth feature very high tech drivers that are 1-2 microns thick - the lighter and stronger the driver is, the better for sound quality.

The cable is a copper crystalline with a rubberized housing. It looks simple, does not tangle, picks up no noise, is light and pliable, ends in 3.5mm, durable right angle plug with a 6.5mm adaptor.

(To use with a balanced amp, go to accessories page, add the Meze or Periapt 4.4mm / XLR  cable.)

My Ananda don't want none unless you got cans hun

First and foremost, Travis is awesome. Super knowledgeable, relaxed, and fun to talk to about audio stuff. He'll teach you a lot about audio if you just ask! The Ananda Stealth is phenomenal. With Hifiman's bright-ish neutral tuning, and the giant egg-shaped ear cups, the sound quality and sound staging is absolutely gorgeous. Treble/Mids are crystal clear and have nice tonality (some say it can be a little fatiguing/shouty and I agree, but EQ can tone this down). Lows/sub-bass have a great amount of slam and rumble, while not overpowering other sounds. Individual instruments (ie. orchestral or rock) have great spacing and separation. It feels like I am on the stage, listening to all of the instruments/singers around me. For comfort, the Ananda feel great on my head. Earcups are very spacious. The bottom of the cup does clamp on my jawline slightly, but it's not bad and will likely get better with time as I break the headphones in. I am upgrading from the Sundara. Comparatively the soundstage on these are wider, especially in the low end frequencies. Bass clarity and boom is far better over the Sundara. Detail retrieval and clarity is a tad better too, but not by a huge margin. EQ can close this gap. Without EQ, the Ananda's tuning is much better out of the box than the Sundara though. Extra comparison for fun: Sennheiser 6xx - Compared to my Sennheiser 6XX, the Ananda sounds much more clear/natural with a much larger sound stage. Detail retrieval on both are close, but the grandness and scale of sounds on the Ananda beats out the 6XX. The intimate nature of the 6XX makes your head feel like the musician's microphone. The Ananda presents sounds at a distance, but you still feel like you are standing on stage with the musicians. Both have their warrants for different music/games/movies. In-store, I got to demo the Audeze LCD-X, Meze 109 pro, Focal Clear MG, and Sennheiser 800s. But I did not compare them with the Ananda side-by-side. Roughly from what I can recall, the LCD-X and 800s had a large and spacious sound stage, similar to the Ananda, while the 109 and Clear MG had a much narrower soundstage. The 109 and Clear had balanced tuning, but the 109 sounded warmer and more relaxed. The LCD-X had a darker/warm tuning, while the 800s was very bright, punchy, and airy. The Ananda falls in between all of these. It is spacious like the LCD-X, but not as spacious as the 800s. The Ananda has a balanced and detailed sound like the Clear MG, but not as strong as the 800s. The low frequencies have an element of warmth and rumble similar to the 109/LCD-X. The Ananda can be seen sort of as a jack of all trades but master of none when compared to the titans above. But given the (sale) price, the performance to price ratio is phenomenal for the Ananda! Hopefully this helps someone out there decide if the Ananda is right for them. They definitely get a big double thumbs up from me!

    Great pair of headphones

The headphones are great sounding. I have compared these to some other good headphones and they stood out. There's one problem though, the clamp force is little more than required. I had problems with fitment at first, but after playing with different adjustment settings, they fit well now. The clamp force on the contrary is the annoying part on these. They are light weight on head, but you'll feel them on your cheeks/face coz of clamp force. One star is chucked coz of that. The sound, it's very balanced and enjoyable imo. The sound experience will change based on song being played and DAC/Amp being used. Good recordings will shine, and bad recordings will fade. The headphones I compared before choosing these are: Hifiman Arya, Koss Electrostatics, Heddphones, Audeze LCD2, Meze The experience with these is ditto to Koss Electrostatics minus the clamp force.

Great Introduction to High End Headphones

I've had these for just over a month now, so I figured this was as good a time as ever to post a review about them. The package is great, a leather bound box with two sets of cables. I've never owned Planar Magnetics before, only mid-range dynamics. The clarity, and neutrality of this set is stunning. The only regret I have, is not getting a pair of these sooner.
