Choose based on compatibility with your gear -if your dac / headphones do not have xlr and you'll be using rca connections, get the 3GT for the rca's on the rear of the 3GT and 6.5mm headphone outputs. If you use a Mojo dac for instance, the 3GT is a perfect upgrade.
Soloist 3X GT adds - and is focused on - the XLR outputs for headphone as well as xlr line level at the rear panel.
The tuning is slightly different, with Burson suggesting the Soloist 3 GT 'relaxes your shoulders and allows you to feel more' while the 3X GT 'drives hard and with pinpoint precision, delivering previously unheard sonic information. It’s a drive for perfection that will leave you amazed'.
Soloist 3GT features 10W output at 16 ohms / 8W at 32 ohms and will run any headphone with plenty of headroom left -Dan Clark Expanse, Hifiman Susvara, Abyss, Hifian HE6 and any 600 ohms models.
