Sivga SV023 Dynamic Driver headphone, over ear, open back design. SV023 use a new 50mm high performance driver with Beryllium coating. The high tech driver materials help to provide a dynamic, high resolution experience. SV023 is a 300 ohm headphone but has a very high sensitivity, so they are not difficult to drive and should get great results with most headphone amps, but also are a perfect match for receivers and integrated amps.
The ear cups are walnut wood, which is lightweight and is a great material sonically. It also looks fantastic! SV023 ear pads are angled for a natural fit, have perforated sides and cloth surface for great long wearing comfort and heat dissipation. The headband is a suspended design, with very soft foam covered in goat leather, also for a long wearing, comfortable feel.
Sivga SV023 includes a great cable, a braided cable that resists tangling and noise with a 4.4mm balanced plug. A 3.5mm pigtail adaptor is included, as is a 6.5mm adaptor. Its great to have a balanced cable included since you can easily use the adpator to go to a 3.5mm plug and lose nothing, but if you have a new dac that has balanced out, it saves you having to spend $100-200 on balanced cable. A form fitting hard carry case is also included.
HifiChoice 4.5 stars, recommended!
Headfonics.com: 8.7 'For a 300Ω headphone, the SIVGA is quite efficient and I never had an issue powering them .... including some average power capable dongle DACs...I would consider them very efficient regardless of their high impedance rating.'
Sivga SV023 specs:
This is my 11th pair of headphones in my current collection and was surprisingly disappointed by the Sennheiser HD660S that joined previously. Got this hoping the muddiness and general lackluster performance of the 660S would be improved with these. This 'phone is a bit clearer and the cable and case were a real boon. These don't work great at loud volumes (driving with a terrific amp) as they cause quick fatigue but they work quite well at low volume and has lots of bass and clarity. The 660S are now exclusive to my theremin and these are way less fragile than my HD820 so work out better for listening while putzing around doing chores, listening to quieter music while working from home, etc. They will never quite be as engaging as my endgame 'phones but the extras and relatively cheap price makes them a decent general purpose can. They look amazing and are well built.
Amazing sound for the price. Comfortable to wear.
