Excellent sound quality

Love the DPX1 sound quality and features. The android software was a tad confusing at first as I don’t have any other android devices. However the second SD card slot stopped working recently and I had to ship it to a warranty depot and the. They are shipping it by to Onkyo USA. No idea if they can fix it yet or how long it will be gone. :(

Onkyo DP-X1

"Purchase the DP-X1 from headphone bar on a whim as they had it on sale. I already had the Oppo-HA2. The thing I like about the X1 is that it is a standalone unit and I don;t have to have my phone tied up when listening to music etc. It fits nicely in a pocket as it is roughly the same size as my iphone. So far I am extremely happy with this unit. The build quality is great it fell nice and robust when you hold it and the volume **** is very smooth no signs of wiggle. The volume is easy to operate and has many steps so it is very easy to dial in the right volume level. The play pause skip forward back buttons are easy to operate when reaching into my pocket. The screen is nice and bright and resolution is great. This is my first android based device so it took me a bit to get used to that but overall once your up to speed the interface works well. have not had any issues in updating apps navigating around getting it to connect to wifi etc. SO far rock solid. I use this primarily while commuting to and from work and while I sit at my desk. I use it to stream Tidal, listen to podcasts and play music (all my cds were ripped lossless to FLAC), some DSD downloads. Sound quality is excellent and easily on par or better than my Oppo HA-2 with the earphones I have tried so far (Optoma NUforce HEM8, quad drivers). I have not tried it with Headphones yet, my Sennheisers need to be fixed. This is a very versatile device, since it runs on the android software, tons of apps can be installed. I only have the bare minimum installed right now, as I use it primarily for music and podcasts. But you can watch Netflix on it if you so desire. Transferring music to and from it is pretty straight forward but I did find it a bit slow in doing so. I found it was quicker to plug the SD cards in to computer directly, rather than plugging the X1 in. Looking forward to trying out some MQA files and hoping Tidal updates the mobile app to allow for MQA streaming. Overall very solid device with good features and superb sound."
