Audioquest Dragonfly Red usb dac, headphone amp, with better clarity, detail, higher output than the Black model. Dragonfly Red works with computers and now with ipads, iphones and newer android phones. Plug in headphones directly to experience clearly improved sound quality from your computer.
If you stream music from Tidal, Dragonfly Red decodes MQA files too, for the best 24 bit quality files available on Tidal.
**To connect to a new ipad pro, android phone or computer, add the ifi OTGusb-c adaptor in the accessories section.
DragonFly Red uses a ESS headphone amp and a bit-perfect digital volume control in the 9016 DAC chip, that ensures maximum fidelity, dynamic contrast, and signal-to-noise ratio. Red has much more “torque,” “grip,” and “muscle” than Black. Red simply sounds cleaner and clearer overall.
To use with new computers/android phones add a usb-c adaptor from the accessory section (iFi OTG $29 or Dragontail, $40)
To use with iphone, buy a $50 DDhifi MFI06f adaptor in the accessories section.
I did a lot of reading on this DAC/Amp and I couldn’t find a single bad review. Well, 10 seconds into a cut will convince anyone that this is a cracker of a DAC/Amp. Ordered the Dragonfly and 3 business days later I was enjoying it. Fabulous service as always - thanks Travis!
pairing this with an intro-level audiophile level headphone took me into a new world of sound. Highly recommended.
Does what it is supposed to do, perfectly. And I do recommend Headphonebar.
Very good. My third dragonfly after v1.0 and v1.2. I sold the 1.0, the 1.2 and the Red are each plugged into Raspberry Pi 3's running RuneAudio, connected wirelessly to my server and operating in my living room and home office. The Red has a tiny bit more presence than the v1.2, but is a bit more finicky on a system reboot. I love them both.
